Snow and Ice Removal

  • Plowing and salting of roadways begins when the snowfall reaches 1" accumulation and continues throughout the storm.
  • Ice control begins with salting as soon as road surfaces begin to freeze.
  • Geneva does not have a parking ban for snow control but the state does. To avoid ticketing or towing. please keep your vehicles off the street until the storm is over and the street has been plowed.

The Geneva Township Highway Department will begin to plow and salt Township roads when an inch or more of snow has fallen. While the Township does not institute a parking ban during snowfalls, the state does. Snow will be removed more quickly and efficiently if residents keep their cars off the street until the storm has ended and their street has been plowed. Illinois law prohibits the plowing, blowing or placing of snow in any way upon a public road from an adjoining property. Residents must shovel driveway ends to the side.

Street plowing may occasionally cause a mailbox to be knocked down. Residents should contact Geneva Township immediately if this occurs. Any further questions or concerns can be directed to the Highway Department, Mark Wissing, Commissioner, at 630-232-3608.
